CIS Northeast Florida & Child Abuse Prevention

On April 9, 2013, Communities In Schools of Northeast Florida received a proclamation from the Putnam County Board of Commissioners declaring April Child Abuse Prevention Month in Putnam County. Communities In Schools, in conjunction with the Putnam County School District, Healthy Families Putnam/Clay, and other local partners placed 278 blue pinwheels on the school district's lawn to represent the number of verified cases of child abuse in Putnam County.

2013 Boots, BBQ and Bubbly

Thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of the 2nd Annual Boots, BBQ & Bubbly event on February 9, 2013, at the Clay County Shrine Club. The master of ceremonies for the evening was CIS Board Treasurer, Helen Curtis. The delicious food for the evening was catered by "Tree"Mendous BBQ. Great music for listening and dancing was provided by Patrick Rogers & ValueTeachers. The night's official photographer was Kay Thomas, who took great pictures for everyone. Magician Cesar Domico entertained the crowd with great magic and hilarious audience participation activities. Boot contests winners were: Mary Lisle - Rock 'n Roll; Ronnie Price - Western Design; Linda Reynolds - Psychedelic; Olivia Lisle - Glitzy-Bling.

2012 Boots, BBQ and Bubbly

Thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of the 1st Annual Boots, BBQ & Bubbly event on February 11, 2012, at the Clay County Shrine Club. The master of ceremonies for the evening was Clay County Sheriff Rick Beseler. Great music for listening and dancing was provided by Michael McDaniel owner of Alchemy Sound and Video Productions and the delicious meal was prepared and served by Ronnie's Wings, Oysters, & More in Green Cove Springs.

2011 Concert on the Green

On Sunday, May 29, 2011, Communities In Schools of Northeast Florida performed at the 23rd Annual "Concert on the Green" held at Spring Park in Green Cove Springs. CIS partnered with the Rotary Club of Fleming Island to provide some special entertainment before the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra's performance at 8 p.m. At 7:45, CIS flash mobbers dressed in "safety green tee-shirts with CIS logos" performed an outstanding rendition of the Cha Cha Slide for the concert attendees. Before the end of the performance, people throughout the crowd were joining in. Many thanks to the Fleming Island Rotary Club for letting CIS be a part of this great event!
